Garbage Pick-Up & Recycling

Columbia County Recycling picks up the Village of Poynette residential garbage every Friday & recycling every other Friday.  For questions, comments or complaints please call (608)742-6651.

Effective October 1st, 2013 all waste must be placed in special designed carts provided by Columbia County.  Rates will increase to $42.00 per quarter effective October 1st and will reflect in the December billing.  Each resident is provided with a  GRAY cart for garbage and a BLUE cart for recycling.  Waste not placed in the garbage carts will not be picked up.  If you require more than one cart, you may purchase up to 3 additional carts at a cost of $50.00 each and there will be an additional $8.00 monthly service fee for each additional cart added to your service.  Trucks with automated arms will now pickup the special carts, the carts should be placed at the curb with the opening of the lid facing towards the road. 

Tires, automotive batteries, yard waste, construction materials and toxic hazardous waste will not be picked up with weekly trash collection.

Special arrangements can be made for the collection of tires, appliances and large furniture pieces; call (608)742-6651 for pick up and payment arrangements.  Special Pickup Charges apply.  Please identify yourself as a resident of the Village of Poynette when you call.

What to put into the recycling cart?  Plastic, glass, bottles and jars, tin and aluminum cans, paper and magazines.  Cardboard should be flattened and placed into the bin as well.
