Sewer Rates

Sewer charges are calculated by your water consumption.  The sewer rate is $6.875 per 1,000 gallons of water used with a minimum charge of $55.00 or 8,000 gallons.  So for example if your water consumption is only 6,000 gallons you will still be charged the minimum of 8,000 or $55.00 for your sewer usage.

Sewer Deduct Meter

Sewer charges are calculated by your water consumption.  If you use water outside your home, sewer charges are still calculated on that usage.  A Deduct Meter can be puchased from the Village of Poynette at the Villages original cost of $57.00.  Once purchased, the meter becomes personal property of the puchaser.  Ownership and use of such meter can be transferred to another user by sale or gift.  Upon transfer the new owner of the deduct meter is responsible for registering that meter with the Village Utility.  Deduct meters are read during summer water season, first read the end of June and second read the end of September.  The volume of water that passes through the deduct meter shall be deducted from the wastewater volume consumption for the period at the current sewer rates charged per 1,000 gallons.  Keep in mind that there is a minimum sewer charge of $55.00 and that a deduct meter can not give you a deduction less than the minimum charge.

If you have additional questions regarding the deduct meter and how it works please notify Poynette Utility at (608)635-2122 x 201.
